"We are now in Lima about to begin the next phase of our journey in Peru so it is an opportune time to write to you.
We had a fantastic time, not without its challenges as you had promised.
The biggest challenge was the lack of language on our part. While things were going well language was not a problem but when problems arose eg boarder crossings, asking for directions in cities etc then the lack of language became an issue. I would suggest for self guided tours having some basic knowledge of the local language is essential.
The highlights were travelling through countryside on a motor bike that is so different to anything we have experienced at home in NZ. The landscapes are truly amazing. Travelling in 3 different countries and experiencing the cultures was also a highlight. The bike performed faultlessly (apart from one flat - not the fault of the bike). Your advice to watch a YouTube video paid off. It was a pleasure to ride and handled the different road surfaces superbly, even the occasional sand. The high calibre of hotels was wonderful - truly appreciated at the end of a long day, great to have access to WiFi each time. We enjoyed the local cuisine and wine each night. Many thanks for all the support with the problematic border crossing; we would have been completed lost without your and Andres interventions that day.
Finally thanks to you, Andres and Juan for making this such a memorable experience.
Best wishes,
John and Jane"
