Motorcycle Parts: Review of AltRider's Side Stand Foot

Written by Eric Lange | October 23, 2011

There’s a new saying out there:  “There are adventure motorcycle riders who have had their kickstands sink into the ground and fall over, and there are those who will.”

No matter which level of experience best describes you, we can all agree this is something best avoided if possible.

AltRider is making a Side Stand Foot that can be added on to a variety of adventure touring motorcycles now in the market.  The one shown on the KTM in this video has been slammed to the ground and used and abused extensively over the past year, and still looks and performs like it’s new.

An important part in the success of AltRider’s Side Stand Foot that it’s essentially in a “fixed” position once on your bike.  Be careful when looking at brands and designs out there, as not all side stand feet are designed to be “fixed.”  Some are designed to be able to spin around and move freely, and as we learned with other designs before changing to AltRider, loosely mounted side stand feet, even when properly mounted, will eventually fall off and never be seen again.

With specific designs for specific bikes, be sure to see AltRider’s website and choose the right one for your bike.  With easy-to-follow and accurate installation instructions, you’ll be adding a great accessory to your bike that will come in handy for sure the next time you’re in the dirt or mud!
