MotoZ Tractionator GPS Review

Written by Garrett Galván | June 23, 2025

When it comes to choosing a tire for your adventure motorcycle, it's not just about whether it looks good or how much it costs.

It's about performance, longevity, and durability,  especially when you're out on rugged terrain or riding in remote areas.

Enter the Motoz Tractionator GPS, a tire that's designed to handle it all.

After extensive testing in our rental fleet on many of our adventure routes, we’ve got a solid take on how this tire stacks up, so let's get into it.

Performance: A Tire That Can Handle It All

Adventure riders require a tire that can handle a range of terrains, including pavement, gravel, mud, and sand.

With the Tractionator GPS, you get a well-balanced, capable tire able to take this on.

The tire features a 50/50 tread pattern, designed to perform equally well on both off-road and on-road surfaces.

Nice center strip for highways and deep knobs for pulling off-road duty.

During our test runs from Oregon through California and all the way down to Baja, Mexico, this tire delivered precisely what we expected, and we have added it as a standard tire on our North American Rental Fleet.

Tread Design: The Right Balance for Mixed Terrain

The Motoz Tractionator GPS features an aggressive tread pattern that’s built for mixed-terrain riding.

The tire’s lugs are spaced apart enough to grab dirt, rocks, and gravel, while still providing plenty of rubber on the road for pavement traction.

What sets this tire apart is the reversible rear tread.

You can flip it around to change the way the tread grips, depending on whether you’re on more dirt or pavement.

For us, this versatility is a big win,  it means you can customize your tire for the conditions you’re facing.

You can adjust it for a more aggressive off-road tread or switch to a smoother pattern for long stretches of pavement.

Longevity: A Tire That Lasts

Let’s face it: replacing tires mid-trip is a hassle, especially when you're out on cross-continent trips like on our South American expeditions. That's why longevity is such an important factor.

The Tractionator GPS impresses in this area. The center strip of the tire plays a huge role in extending its life, providing extra durability where the tire makes the most contact with the ground.

It helps maintain the tire's shape and prevents the edges from wearing out too quickly.

We've run through so many of these tires over the years and we usually get between 8000-12000 miles.

Which is on par with the current longevity champion, the Heidenau K60 Scout.

With that said, we've seen the Motoz Tractionator hold its shape better than the Heidenau K60 towards the end of its life, which gives us a consistent feel on pavement throughout its lifespan.

For an adventure tire, that’s pretty rare.

Durability: Built to Withstand the Tough Stuff

The Tractionator GPS is constructed with a four-ply nylon sidewall, offering a strong and durable build.

We didn’t see any sidewall punctures or issues, even after putting it through tests in Baja, the Southwest US, and the Pacific Northwest.

The durability of this tire is impressive. With a rigid four-ply construction, we've taken this bad boy over some challenging routes without worrying about sidewall damage.

If you're traveling in remote areas, that peace of mind is priceless.

Tough Compound for Serious Riders

The Tractionator GPS is made with a hybrid compound of silica and natural rubber.

The compound is harder than many other tires in the market, which is why it lasts longer. However, this stiffness can make it a bit tougher to work with if you need to fix a flat mid-ride.

This tire’s stiff compound means it’s going to hold up well against punctures and wear.

However, if you’re stuck on the side of the road, you might need a third tire iron and even a second person to help get it off the rim.
That said, it's a trade-off we're willing to make for the added durability.

A Deeper Tread for Better Traction

A deeper tread pattern may not sound like a significant difference, but it actually makes a substantial difference in traction,  especially in sand or mud.

The Tractionator GPS’s slightly deeper lugs provide extra grip when riding off-road.

A deeper tread isn’t just for looks,  it’s there for function.

When we are guiding our off-road-focused routes, we need every bit of traction we can get, and this tire’s depth helps it bite into soft surfaces without hesitation.

Easy Mounting: No Hassle, No Problems

We appreciate that Motoz takes extra care in the tire’s packaging by including a cardboard insert in the bead.

This small detail helps the tire keep its shape during shipping and ensures that you won’t have issues when mounting it, especially if you're working on mouting these puppies on a tubeless set up.

It’s the little things, right? The cardboard bead insert might seem like a small detail, but it makes mounting a lot easier, especially when you're doing it on your own.

It’s a thoughtful touch that we appreciate since we mount these tires an absurd amount, being in the tours and rentals biz.

Key takeaways in Performance, Longevity and Durability?

Performance-wise, the Tractionator GPS stands out as a true hybrid tire that can handle a variety of surfaces.

Whether you’re navigating smooth highways, rocky dirt paths, or sandy trails, it provides the grip and stability you need.

For longevity, we’ve been really impressed with how well it’s held up over thousands of miles.

Even with aggressive riding and varied terrains, the tire maintains its profile, meaning it doesn’t flatten out like some others. Cough Cough Heidenau :)

In terms of durability, it’s been a solid performer. We’ve tested it through numerous tough situations without any significant punctures or failures.

As always, individual mileage will vary, but we’re confident in its ability to handle demanding conditions.
