Testimonials
Cricket and Mack are true gems. I learned more about packing techniques than I imagined possible, and elevated my confidence level regarding traversing rough terrain. It was definitely a positive experience overall (apart from the tragedy), and I would certainly recommend it to my friends.
Thanks Ben - We loved having you train with us and can't wait to hear about all the places you've traveled to.
Joel took our Coach and Camp Training Expedition, where we go into ADV training, our Adventure Ready Course, and do 3 days in the backcountry, coach-supported.
Mack, Patrick & JJ were very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and encouraging. Every rider had a specific thing to work on, and all 3 of the guys were directly involved in our experience. They made us feel welcome and helped build our confidence to push our limits. So much fun!
Joel - Thank you for the kind words. These guys are awesome to train with.

The Backcountry Training Expedition: Coach & Camp
Become a Self-Reliant Adventurer
You’ve watched the BDR films. You have the bike. But there is a significant gap between riding local forest roads and executing a multi-day, self-sufficient backcountry expedition.
This 6-day immersion is designed to bridge that gap. We don’t just teach you how to handle your bike in the dirt; we teach you the systems required to live off your bike and fix what breaks in the middle of nowhere.
By the time we head into the backcountry on Day 5, you won’t just be a "student"—you’ll be a functioning member of an expedition team.
Your Training Expedition Starts Here

Does This Sound Familiar?
You see the photos, you watch the films—riders cresting a remote mountain pass, kicking up dust on a desert two-track, sharing stories around a crackling campfire miles from anywhere. You have the bike, you have the desire, but a gap remains between where you are and where you want to be.
Maybe you find yourself thinking…
-
"I love my bike on the pavement, but I feel clumsy and uncertain as soon as it gets loose."
-
"What do I actually need to pack for a multi-day trip? And how do I fit it all on my bike?"
-
"My biggest fear isn't the riding; it's getting a flat tire or having a simple mechanical issue 100 miles from the nearest town."
-
"I want to do a BDR or explore a backcountry route, but I don't know how to start, and I don't want to be that guy who holds everyone else back."
For over a decade, RIDE Adventures has been helping riders bridge that exact gap. We believe that the greatest adventures are earned, and it all starts with building a solid foundation of skill and confidence. That’s why we created this.
Introducing Our Backcountry Training Expedition:
A 6-Day Adventure Immersion
This is more than a class. It's the beginning of your adventure riding career. We’ve combined our 2-Day training and Adventure Ready Course with a real, multi-day expedition to create the most effective and confidence-inspiring program available.
Over the six days, you’ll progress from learning core skills to navigating rugged backcountry on a fully-loaded motorcycle.
You won't just learn the theory; you'll live the adventure, supported every step of the way by our expert coaching team.

The Skills You'll Gain, The Confidence You'll Keep
Our goal is to give you the keys to independence. You’ll leave this course with the ability to plan, pack for, and safely execute your own adventures.
-
Become One with Your Bike: Develop the fluid control and balance to make your adventure bike feel like an extension of you, whether you’re navigating a rocky trail or a tight switchback.
-
Demystify the Logistics: Learn the art of smart packing, what tools and spares are essential, and how to set up a comfortable, efficient campsite.
-
Conquer Common Problems: We’ll teach you what matters most, including how to fix a flat tire on the trail. This single skill transforms the fear of the unknown into a manageable inconvenience.
-
Learn to Read the Trail: Gain the ability to look at a section of road, choose a line, and ride it with confidence and composure.
-
Earn Your Campfire Stories: The best part of adventure is the experience itself. You'll ride incredible routes, see stunning landscapes, and finish each day with the deep satisfaction that only comes from a challenging day in the saddle.

Itinerary
Arrival Day
Get to Bend, Oregon, or Pahrump, Nevada and get organized. You will have location and itinerary information emailed to you prior to our expedition.
Foundations - Day 2:
RIDING FOCUS
The "4 Fundamentals." We start on the RIDE Range with an unladen bike. We focus on building the muscle memory required for total control: body positioning, clutch/throttle synchronization, and precision braking.
EXPEDITION FOCUS
Adventure Ready Course (ARC). We begin discussing the "why" behind specific gear choices and logistics.
THE RIDER SHIFT
You’ll move from "muscling" the bike to letting the physics work for you. The tension in your shoulders starts to disappear.
Technical Terrain and Gear - Day 3:
RIDING FOCUS
Technical terrain & the sand pit. We spend the first half of the day tackling the most intimidating terrain for self-taught riders. You’ll learn the technique to stay on top of the sand rather than fighting through it.
EXPEDITION FOCUS
The continuation of ARC. Packing a bike correctly takes time and a system. We begin the detailed process of organizing your kit for weight distribution and accessibility.
THE RIDER SHIFT
You’ll realize that sand isn’t a "trap," it’s just a different surface. You’ll also start to see your gear as a "system" rather than just a pile of bags.
Load Up Transition - Day 4
RIDING FOCUS
Training under load. We finish the packing process and double-check every strap and bolt. Then, we take the fully loaded bikes back to the range.
EXPEDITION FOCUS
Final gear cull—deciding what stays, what goes, and why. We may conduct a "mock camp setup" to ensure you know your footprint.
THE RIDER SHIFT
This is the "Eye-Opener." You’ll be surprised at how easy the bike handles with weight once your fundamentals are solid. The intimidation of a "heavy bike" is replaced by the reality of a balanced one.
Expedition Departure - Day 5:
Kickstands up. We depart the range and head into the backcountry of Nevada or Oregon. This isn't a follow-the-leader tour; you are part of the team. You’ll assist with navigation and group management.
We reach our first remote site and set up camp under the stars.
THE RIDER SHIFT
The nerves of "leaving the pavement" are replaced by the focus of the mission. You’ll apply your ARC training in real-time as you set up your living space for the night.
Expedition Continued Day 6:
Independence takes root. We spend the day exploring a spectacular backcountry loop. We’ll encounter real-world obstacles—rock gardens, water crossings, or steep climbs—with coaches providing trailside guidance.
A second night of remote camping. By now, the "system" of packing and unpacking is becoming second nature.
THE RIDER SHIFT
You’ll feel a sense of "Flow." You aren't thinking about your feet or hands anymore; you’re reading the trail and enjoying the freedom of travel on two wheels.
Expedition Return - Day 7:
A final, rewarding leg back to the basecamp. We break camp for the last time, move through the final technical sections, and arrive back in the afternoon.
You wake up as a different rider. The "clumsy" feeling is gone. You’ve successfully lived off your bike for three days and managed the terrain with confidence.
THE RIDER SHIFT
A profound sense of self-reliance. You’ve proven to yourself that you can handle the bike, the gear, and the environment.
Departure - Day 8:
Pack up your bike (or return your rental) and head home. You are no longer "dreaming" about a BDR; you now have the blueprint to go ride one.
Minimum Essential Gear for RIDE Training
